This is a 10-Day NCL cruise porting Italy, Greece, and Malta. The pros about this itinerary is only one sea day. The cons are less popular Messina port of call at Sicily (Italy) and afternoon port time at Mykonos (Greece) and Valletta (Malta). In November, Mediterranean water is cold and no good for water activities. Sky turns dark early before 5:00PM and you get less time for touring.
Trip Highlights and Tips
- 3 countries: Italy, Greece, Malta
- public transportation and one-way car rental are both good options for commute between Rome FCO airport and Civitavecchia cruise port
- November is the start of winter season. Buses and ferry are less. Attractions may close on Monday.

Day 0 Fly into Rome
We arrive Rome around noon and stay one night at Rome to transit to Civitavecchia next day. Rome public transportation is convenient. Although daily pass covers metro, train and bus all, it doesn’t cover airport and cruise port routes. Since we visited Rome before, this time one day at Rome is enough and a hotel near Ostiense Station fits our one-day tour.
