Mykonos is a very small town and water is super clear. Town touring can complete in 3 hours while Delos would take 5 hours.

Mykonos port info

Mykonos has two port, the new port and the old port. The old port is walkable to Mykonos town and is where to take the ferry to Delos.

During our 2017 cruise, this was a tender port and the tender took us straight to old port.

During our 2023 cruise, the cruise docked at new port and shuttle bus were provided between old and new port. There is also sea taxi service available to go between old and new port for a fee.

Delos Ferry info

During our first visit in 2017, there was a ferry to Delos scheduled at 12:15pm. However, our cruise only arrived at 12:00pm and when we got to the ticket booth, we have just missed the 12:15pm ferry.

The second visit in 2023, we had a long day at port (8am to 8pm). Since it was early April it was unclear how many ferry to Delos were running that day. We made it off the cruise to the ticket booth by 9am and got the tickets for 10am ferry to Delos. There was only 1 ferry scheduled for that day.

There are two options for Ferry tickets

just the ferry ticket – this does not include entrance fee to Delos
Guided tour – including ferry ticket, entrance fee to Delos and a guided tour

Important – Check the return ferry time and make sure you get back to the ferry before the ferry leaves. On our return ferry the captain gave a few warning horns 5 minutes before the scheduled time and we saw people running back to the ferry and almost missed the ferry.

Delos ticket info

Since we generally like to tour by ourselves, we choose the ferry ticket only. Which mean when we got off the ferry at Delos, we need to line up to buy the Delos entrance ticket.

Tip – get off the ferry as fast as you can, the line builds up very quickly and it could be at least 30 mins difference if you are at the front of the line vs end of the line. Entrance fee in 2023 was 8 Euro for Adult and 4 Euro for kids. If you buy the guided tour option then you do not need to line up for the entrance, instead find your tour guide.

The legendary birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. It is dried up now. When we visited there were a lot of spring wild flowers.

2017 – One of mills is defunct without rooftop and remains are maintained under private ownership.

2023 – looks like the windmill with missing rooftop has been fixed

Mykonos town is a maze of all-white streets that was designed to confuse pirates. Today it becomes white beauty to tourists to enjoy peace and relax along the narrow streets.
