Tucson, Arizona

  • Don’t miss Sky Island Scenic Byway
  • Saguaro National Park can be one day trip on both regions
  • local Mexican style bagel and donuts here are great
  • Culver’s butter burger and frozen custard are my kids’ favorite
  • Dove Mountain can be one of your attraction option

Sky Island Scenic Byway

Sky Island Scenic byway is a 25 miles about drive to the elevation of 8000 located inside Coronado National Forest. At the time of our visit in April, even though Tucson is baked at 90F, we still have to wear a light jacket at higher elevation and even see a spot of snow. There are numerous campgrounds, awesome trails, great points of view along the road and a sky resort at the top. To me, this byway is so pretty at every turns and much more beautiful than Saguaro National Park. Don’t miss it when you visit the region.

Windy Point Vista is a must stop in my opinion and you can add on other vistas along the road. If you have 3-4 hours, I would suggest you to drive all the way to SummerHaven and make stops at Marshall Gulch and Palisade Visitor Center. For more time, take some trails at Marshall Gulch.
