Sintra

Sintra downtown

Tuk Tuk ride up to Sintra Mountain

We had planned to take the bus up to Pena Palace, while we were waiting at the bus stop a Tuk Tuk pulled up, offered us a reasonable rate (it had 2 passengers already so with the 4 of us will make it a full ride) so we jumped in and took the tuk tuk ride. After our visit of Pena Palace we hiked down the mountain it was a nice easy downhill walk to Vila Sassetti.

Palacio Nacional da Pena

The Pena Palace is on top of Sintra mountain, it is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Castelo dos Mouros

View of Castelo dos Mouros from Palacio Nacional da Pena. We passed by the gate to Mouros castle on our hike down Sintra mountain but we did not go in.

Quinta da Regaleria

A UNESCO world heritage site. Going down the famous Initiation wells to the connecting tunnels – a very fun place to visit

Quinta das Murtas

We stayed at Quinta das Murtas bed and breakfast and it was great. The location is central to access everything Sintra has to offer and the accommodation was very nice. We had the apartment in the back (not part of the main building) that had a great view of the gardens. Forgot to take pictures.
