Riad Dar Essalam, Marrakech

Loved the Riad we stayed at in Marrakech, Riad dar Essalam – Royal Suite. This was one of the most impressive hotel we’ve stayed at. And to top it off the staff was just amazing, especially Soumia who greeted us on day1, gave us all the information we needed about Marrakech, helped us booked local tour and when we loved the cookies they offered and wanted to know where to buy them offered to buy the cookies for us. The Riad is in a great location less than 10 mins walk to Jemaa el-Fna square in one direction and less than 10 mins walk to Badi Palace in the other direction. We were able to visit all of the attractions by walking.

Welcome tea

As we arrived at the Riad, we were welcomed with Moroccan tea and cookies. Just what we needed after a long day car ride. This is the reception area and also where we have breakfast every morning.

Royal Suite

We had the Royal Suite which includes two rooms with two bathrooms and a private courtyard. Other gusts can see the courtyard from their rooms but cannot access it. The courtyard is above the reception/breakfast area.

Here’s a video of walking through the Royal Suite

Restaurant Dar Essalam

The restaurant has a few dining halls and each one is unique and beautiful. We got a tour of the restaurant before dinner opened. Part of the restaurant was a former Palace. Alfred Hitchcock film “The man who knew too much” was filmed here. The restaurant offers Moroccan cuisine and traditional belly dance. We did not get a chance to dine here during our stay.

Entrance

Saturday evening they had special music to welcome restaurant guests. Not sure if this was a one of special event or it’s every weekend. We heard the music from our room and went to check it out.

Rooftop Terrace

There is a rooftop Terrace with view of Marrakech and another rooftop restaurant next door.
