Reutte

Info

Reutte is a small town in Austria close to Germany Füssen

If you drive from Fussen to Garmisch-Partenkirchen the fastest route is to pass through Austria

Tickets for Ehrenberg Castle/Suspension bridge/Lift ticket can be booked online, since we were unsure when we’d stopped at the castle (either on our way to Garmisch-Partenkirchen or the next day on our way back) we did not buy ticket in advance and bought the ticket onsite. There is a combo family ticket for 46 Euro (in 2022) that includes the lift ticket and the suspension bridge. This combo family ticket can only be bought at the ticket counter (not at the automatic ticket machine).

We spent about 1.5 hour in the area.

Highline179 (Suspension Bridge)

To get to the entrance of Highline179 you can either hike up (about 20 mins hike) or take the lift. We opted for the lift.

Highline179 suspension bridge is 406 meters long and 114 meters high, it connects Ehrenberg Castle Ruins with Fort Claudia.

it’s pretty cool to walk across the suspension bridge not bumpy/swingy at all.

When we started to cross it was snowing and very foggy (could hardly see the mountains). Luckily the sun came out as we reached the other side of the bridge, and the view of the casle ruins was breathtaking. Jayden had fun making a giant snowball.

Fort Claudia

A short hike (short and easy hike unless you are carrying a giant snowball) from the bridge is Fort Claudia. Jayden decided to give up on the snowball and was happy to find a giant icicle at the fort.

Ehrenberg Castle Ruins

Walking around the ruins

what have they done? should we leave them here?

Lake Plansee

A beautiful lake on our drive towards Linderhof castle, I had to stop and take a few pictures.
