This was not our first time in Portland, arriving on a cruise ship we decided to take the ferry to peaks island for a couple hours.

Ferry to Peaks Island
The round trip ferry for adult is $7.70 and child is $3.85 (in 2022), the ferry runs almost hourly in summer and takes about 20 minutes each way.
Once on Peaks Island there are golf carts and Bicycles rentals available. We choose neither and decided to walk around the island.
Battery Steele
Battery steele was built during World War II and is a US Military Fortification. It is pretty cool to explore, bring a flash light it is very dark inside.
