Public Transport

Public Transport in Munich is very convenient with S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Bus and Tram.

We stayed in Munich for 2 nights and have a car with us, so we choose a hotel with parking (for a fee) but is in walking distance to Munich old town. Most of the places we visited in our 1 day in Munich was within walking distance.

Munich old town

Glockenspiel (Munich Clock tower)

The clock tower at 11am, noon daily (and extra 5pm between March and October) tells the story of popular folklore. It lasts about 15 minutes.

Churches

Frauenkriche (Cathedral of Our Lady with Devil’s Footprint)

Cathedral with two towers, the south tower is open for visitor to climb up for a view of Munich.

At the entrance is the Devil’s Footprint – there are many versions of the legend. You can read about one here.

Out of all the Palaces/Castles/Residence we visited, Munich Residence is the only one where pictures are allowed inside.

It was fun to sit and watch people surfing in the river.

Kunst Museum – Fujiko Nakaya exhibition

We were just walking by Kunst museum when we see fog coming out of the side of the building and kids running around in the fog. We asked the staff what this was and learned about the special exhibition for Fujiko Nakaya. We decided to check it out and it was pretty cool.
