Heraklion, Crete, Greece

Heraklion is the capitol of Crete, the largest Greece Island. Main attraction is the Knossos Palace and Archaeological Museum of Heraklion of Minoan civilization.

Transportation

The bus system in and around Heraklion is very convenient (and free wifi on the bus!)

When we arrived from cruise port, there was no walking allowed in the port area, a shuttle bus was provided from the ship to the Heraklion port passenger station. There is a booth at the gate to buy bus tickets and the bus top is immediately after that gate. Bus ticket was 5 Euro in 2023 and is good for all day. Bus 2 takes you to Heraklion city center as well as to Knossos Palace.

Entrance fee

Knossos Palace ticket in 2023 – €15, Reduced: €8. However they have the combo ticket for adults – Full: €20. Combo ticket not available for reduced kids ticket. Ticket agent said we can get the combo ticket for adults that will cover both Knossos Palace and the Archaeological Museum. Then buy separate reduced kids ticket for each site (€8 for Knossos Palace and €6 for museum).
