Polynesian Cultural Center locates at North Shore. If your trip is culture oriented, this will be a good place to spend a day. We didn’t go though. Besides, North Shore is majorly a surfing site. You will like North Shore very much if you are a pro surfer. Before you get into water, double confirm that you are really highly skilled, because swell wave is truly scary. Most of North Shore beaches are all good for surfing, and the most popular are Banzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay. Into November, North Shore wave is gaining power and turn itself into a monster. World class surfers show up for contests. Pro surfing is certainly fun to watch, but surfing yourself is another thing. Don’t get yourself kill if you are a newbie.

One day we drove by North Shore. Weather was sunny and wave was big but not terrible. We hopped around different beaches watching people surfing. In such a nice day, even a wild seal was sun bathing on the beach. The other day not long after, scene totally changed. All beaches closed on yellow tags and in some places wave ran into the street. When standing in front of the unstoppable waves, you totally surrender to the power of mother natural.

If you go North Shore only for beach time or snorkel, Shark Cove is a great spot for you. It is totally circled by rocks and very safe for kids. You will have good time there during sunny day and low tide.
