- We booked the Hakone travel package through Odakyu travel (http://www.odakyu-travel.co.jp/eng/hakone/?tourism) which includes roundtrip train ticket from Tokyo, one night hotel in Hakone and Hakone freepass (good for bus, tram, cable car, ferry)

Owakudani (大湧谷)
Cable car over Owakudani
Owakudani is famous for it’s black egg cooked in hot spring – it is said that eating the black egg will give you 7 years of longevity, so eat up! while there you can also try the black ice cream or regular ice cream if black is not your color.

Take the Hakone Sightseeing (pirate) cruise across Lake Ashi, if you are lucky (we were not) and the weather is good you can enjoy the view of Mt. Fuji on the cruise.
Hakone Shrine (箱根神社)
Torii is a traditional Japanese gate generally found at entrances or within Shinto shrines. This is the torii at Lake Ashi as seen from the lake and from shore.

Hakone Open-air museum (彫刻の森美術館)
A great museum for the whole family, enjoy sculptures, special exhibitions, play at the very special kids play area or relax at the foot bath hot spring area.
