Gatlinburg in Tennessee is a great base for visiting Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The town itself is a mountain/tourist town with many hotels, restaurants and shops.

Skylift and skybridge
The Gatlinburg SkyBridge is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America. The ticket is good for the whole day. We went once in the afternoon and again after dark.
