Minnewaska State Park Preserve, New York

Minnewaska state park locates only 2 hours away from New York City,  neighboring  Mohonk Preserve and Monhonk Montain House. Although not for rock climbing, the state park also offers great views and trails no less than Monhok. The state park has upper parking lots nearby Lake Minnewaska and other parking lots around state park entrance. Upper parking lots fill up quickly, not to mention foliage season. When we arrive the state park around 11:30AM (well, I know, a little bit late for hiking), even state park parking at the entrance is totally full already and we have to park outside the park. The walking time from park entrance to upper parking lot is about 30 mins one eay.  Because major trails all start out from Lake Minnewaska, parking at upper parking lot will save you an hour round trip easily. (2016.10.16) In this day trip, we only hike Lake Minnewaska trail and roughly half of Millbrook Mountain trail. However, Lake Minnewaska trail is already so beautiful so that taking us 3+ hours to finish this gorgeous short trail.
