Colorado National Monument

Info/Tip

Rim Rock Drive is total 23 miles between Fruita, CO and Grand Junction, CO and takes about 1 hour to drive through (without stopping). The Visitor Center is about 4 miles from West side entrance (8 miles from Fruita). We choose to drive from West to East so we can stop at visitor center for information first. Driving from East to West will also work. We spend about 3 hours total including the rim rock drive, stopping at overlooks and doing the Devils Kitchen Hike.

There are many overlooks and short hikes available. In Summer it can get very hot there is no shade on most trails.

Devils Kitchen Trail

This trail was recommended by park ranger that is good for kids, 0.75 miles 1 way. Beginning of trail there is no shade so it can get hot in summer, this trails involves going over slickrock, once at Devils Kitchen at the rock opening kids and explore the area. This is definitely a fun hike to do.
