Berlin

Info

Berlin public transportation is very convenient. We got the 24 hour ABC zone ticket for 10 Euro per adult and up to 3 kids can ride free. We stayed at the Berlin airport hotel for 2 nights and had 1 full day in Berlin. We arrived in Berlin in the evening and had to return the rental car at the airport and our flight back was early morning, so it made more sense to stay at the airport than downtown Berlin.

Covid testing (for return to US)

In April 2022 covid testing was still required a day before flying to US. There were many Covid testing sites available. Airport also had testing options. We choose to get tested in downtown Berlin as it was cheaper than the airport. We got the results within the hour.

Reichstag Building

Online registration required to visit the dome of Reichstag building. Admission is free and there is a good audio guide as you walk in the dome with 360 view of Berlin. Also has an exhibition about the history of Berling Parliament.

Brandenburger Tor

Memorial to the murdered Jews

Topography of Terror

Checkpoint Charlie

A long line just to take these pictures but oh well we are tourists.

Computer Game Museum

Jayden found the brochure in the visitor center and was very interested in checking it out. It did not disappoint a fun place to spend a couple of hours. It was his favorite from the whole Germany trip.

Alexendar Plaz

Berlin Cathedral

East side Gallery

East side Gallery of the Berlin wall. The most famous is the “My God, Help me to Survive this Deadly Love” also referred to as “Fraternal Kiss” of Leonid Brezhnev and Erich Honecher kissing. We were not sure where exactly this painting was at the East side Gallery. We took the S-Bahn to Warschauer Straße and walked towards Mecedes Platz, the painting is close to Mercedes Platz.
